ERIC
So, I found it interesting to hear about all the different things that have been happening in the schools. I am a little disappointed though, I personally do not want the schools, children, everyone to be so hooked up in today's world. I do not think that being so involved with EVERYTHING is the best idea. It seems like it is making our children's lives more stressful at an earlier age.
I thought back to how we talked about how annoying we find it when we can't find someone right away, we assume that if you have a cell phone, you MUST answer it. I miss the days of leaving messages and getting in touch with people in person. It is funny, children today have no idea how much fun it is to play jump rope with the long kitchen phone cord, while Mom is on a long distance phone. I guess I just miss the slower days of no cell phones, i-pods, portable game systems, I prefer the simpler days, I feel they were less stressful. I mean, we made it through the 80's and a lot of the 90's with out.
I understand that this the direction that things are going in and there is no stopping it. I guess the days were enjoyment of the slower things in life are gone and it is our job as educators to help everyone, including each other, to keep up.

No excuses
Hello all,
I have not checked into anything and I am sorry for not contributing anything to the group what so ever. I let my work get in the way of my classes and in turn that let you all down as well. I will sit out the presentation today with whatever consequences happen to me. I am hopefully talking with Carrie after class today about what my next steps are.
See you all in class

Blog 4
So, this class was pretty fun. Unfortunately, the flip did not work and we only saw different white videos. I saw the really cool things that could be done with the camera. The different things availilbe on line are really cool, the iMovie and stuff like that. I am not one who uses this stuff frequently, so I was really impressed by how simple it was, kind of.
I am not sure how to add my movie, but I did like to change the different things on my videos. I do wish Rosie and I would have been able to use our video clips.
We went over the various ways we can use the istuff. When all else fails, they do have help boxes availible and the teacher and other students are there as well.

week 2
In the text, it does adapt Gardner's ideas and technology. With people having different strengths and attributes to add the group, people can ensure the best person for the job is doing just that. To have some one who is good with numbers to be the "calculator" in a business situation, may be better than having someone who is better at talking with people. The websites I visited were not concentrating on the technology side of his theory. It seems as people would progress with their development, it would make sense that their progress with technology would develop as well.
Bloom's learning domains seem to utilize type II technology the most. This type of learning can be looked at as the goals of the training process, which to me means using the computer as a tool, using the tools of technology to learn something. This idea is a goal for most teachers, that a student will take something with them after the intended lesson in implemented. This is great to ensure students are actually learning something at school as opposed to just pushing them through the classes and out the doors. Fro the young children, they need to build a solid foundation if they want have a successful school career.
Dale's cone of experience is a simple chart of what may be going on in people's minds. It comments on how people generally remember 90% of what they do, simulate a real experience, do the real thing, CREATE. Most everyone benefits from having that real life relationship. Showing young children how school relates to their lives is the best thing they can do to try and bring that new experience into their lives. If they have something to compare it to, chances are it might stick. I feel all three types are used in this approach. One can start by working with a computer and as they grow and experience more, they can start to see how the technology can be used in the real world.

1st week
so, who had fun in class? once we got our groups set up....
I am from Sylvania, Ohio and am a transfer student at BGSU. I am an avid disc golfer and yogi for years. I am a soccer player and naturalist. I am a sub for Wood County Educational Service Center. I am horrible with computers and hope to find out more about technology. I want to be able to use computers more easily. I think technology is a double-edged sword, it can help and hurt in the same swipe. It's hard because, you don't know if the 7 year old needs help turning on a computer or can help you reboot it!
